Hua Hin Market Village

July 10, 2014 by Clrance Heck

Hua Hin Market Village

Hua Hin Market Village

Hua Hin Market Village Hua Hin Market Village is the first large shopping complex to be built in Hua Hin.

It is situated on Petchkasem road approximately 2km south of Hua Hin town center, just passed Salesian school.

The large complex has plenty of parking though does get very busy at weekends. Unfortunately the impact on traffic on the main road was not taken into consideration when they built it so the u-turns often become dangerously congested at busy times.

Local events such as motor shows are occasionally held at Market Village and it has become an extremely popular hangout for Thai students and youths who can often spend the whole day here.

Hua Hin Market Village The top floor has a bowling alley and Major Cineplex however very few of the movies are shown with the original English soundtrack, you may get the occasional one with English subtitles but it seems that the management have completely ignored this segment of the market. Fortunately, some local expats have been trying to get this attitude changed and have succeeded to a certain extent. To follow what’s happening, check out and contribute to the ongoing disussion.

Shopping in Hua Hin Market Village

Fortunately the shopper wont be as dissapointed as the movie buff. Market Village has a wide array of quality fashion outlets including many international brand names such as Levi, Lee, Wrangler, Timberland and Lacoste. Additionally there are a number of smaller local clothing and jewellery shops, mobile phone and camera retailers and an art gallery or two. International cosmetics branches such as Boots also have a home in Market Village.Hua Hin Market Village

A food court and some of the big names in refreshments and cuisine can be found in Market Village, these include Sizzlers, Pizza Company, KFC, Swensens, Haagen Dazs, and Starbucks with many more smaller local eateries.

Some of the banks have branches here and there are shops for TOT and Hutch. The three major outlets in Hua Hin Market Village are Tesco Lotus on the ground floor, Home Pro on the second floor and the Major Cineplex on the third floor.

Plearnwan In Hua Hin

March 12, 2014 by Clrance Heck

Plearnwan In Hua Hin

Plearnwan is a theme of unique Thai Style wooden buildings featuring shopping here you will find a two-storey courtyard-style building with an architectural statement in itself. You can stroll through and find shops selling everything from liquor, inexpensive plastic-and-tin toys, snacks as well as a beauty salon, photo studio, outdoor cinema screen and a 20-room guesthouse or ‘Piman Plern Wan’.

Food is the main highlight at Plearn Wan. But other than the usual pad thai or grilled meat skewers, you will find a good mix of old and new. Hard-to-find snacks, such as ‘tong muan sod’ (sweetened pancake) and ‘ka lor jee’ (similar to Japanese mochi), are cooked up by order at one of the hawker carts lining the walkway along with typical fare such as noodles and barbecued pork over rice. And if you are a fan of Thai sweets, you will find a myriad of mouthwatering recipes here, from mango sticky rice to grass jelly with shaved ice and preserved fruits in sweetened syrup. Besides hopping from one food cart to the next, shopping is another favourite pastime for visitors to Plern Wan.

How to get there
By Car :
– Drive along Highway No. 35 (Thon Buri-Pak Tho) passing Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram Provinces and then take Highway No. 4 to Hua Hin. Total distance is 123 kilometers. It takes 2.30 hrs.
